Maxwell Arceneaux is a hornist from New Orleans, Louisiana. He has played French horn since he was thirteen years old. Arceneaux is a graduate of Holy Cross and NOCCA. Arceneaux earned his bachelors degree in Horn Performance from The Johns Hopkins University Peabody Institute and Masters degree in Horn Performance from Shenandoah University. Arceneaux performed at Carnegie Hall twice as a young musician in 2015 and 2017. He was name Child Prodigy Finalist in the PIMF solo Competition in 2017. He was the first place winner for Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra Concerto Competition 2018. He placed as runner-up in the Digital Project Competition for his original song, For My Angel and High Horn Excerpt Competition at the Northwest Horn Symposium in 2021. Arceneaux performed as a soloist in the Cayman Island Music Festival, he toured in Argentina with Shenandoah Orchestra, and has multiple other notable orchestra tours and performances. Arceneaux has studied with Mollie Pate (principal horn of Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra), Wei-Ping Chou (2nd Horn of the Kennedy Center House Opera Orchestra), and Geoff Pilkington (principal horn of the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra). Arceneaux has been mentored by Bob Watt (retired Los Angeles Philharmonic assistant principal horn), the first black American French hornist to play in orchestra. Along with Larry Williams (Artistic Director and Solo Horn of American Studio Orchestra, Principal Horn of: Black Pearl Chamber Orchestra, and Sphinx Symphony Orchestra, and a member of The Lyric Brass Quintet). Arceneaux has 3 albums (Discovery, 2020; Identity EP2021; and Believe, 2022) and is currently working on his 4th album. Maxwell has been praised for his “soaring” and “beautiful” French horn playing along with his energetic and magical music production.
