Craig received the inaugural Excellence in the Arts Award at the 2023 Metis Recognition Awards for the Songs of Justice Project. The 10-song album includes "Call This Land" that reached #8 on the Indigenous Music Countdown, and "Walk With Me," featured during the Papal Visit to Lac Ste Anne in July 2022. In 2021 the Calgary Herald featured Songs of Justice among 'Ten Notable Albums from Calgary-area musicians' and recognized Craig as a “Compelling Calgarian.” In 2021/2022 he was awarded a fellowship with Evolve to Innovate and a grant in 2022/2023 with the Taylor Institute for Teaching and Learning to develop the Animal Kinship Project,. Craig is a citizen of the Métis Nation of Alberta as well as a member of Métis Local 87. He is an Associate Professor (Teaching) in the Department of Classics and Religion and serves as the Director of the International Indigenous Studies Program at the University of Calgary.
