About the artist
“Singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer. Songs and grooves for the deep-feelers and over-thinkers.”
Through her music, Laus explores the tender, expansive and often painful condition of being a human with feelings. Her rich instrumental textures, soaring but vulnerable vocals and heartbeat driven grooves carry the words that channel an innate desire to belong, both in the worlds in which we find ourselves, and the worlds that we find within. Reminiscence, love lost, introspection, attention to the finer details, beauty in the mundane and a delicate sensitivity to her surroundings drive much of Laus'  reflective songwriting. An eclectic mix of soundscapes, Laus' musical creations include elements of spoken word, electronica, string ensembles, baritone ukulele, intimate piano, jazzy flute improvisations and percussive beats that take you on a journey through time, space and sound. A regular on the Sofar Sounds Vancouver stage, the multi-instrumentalist loves nothing more than pouring her heart out to an audience, letting her adorkable personality shine, and connecting authentically with others. Laus was also invited to perform at the Locals Lounge Showcase at Guilt & Company in May, were she delivered a diverse and engaging set with full band. Laus released her self-produced debut single, Egonovella, and it's official music video, in May 2022. The song marks a period of existential angst, a realisation of self-imposed limitations and the desire to be free of the above. Laus is currently working on her next single, to be released at the end of this July. She is also performing on the Macdonald Stage at Khatsahlano Street Party this year, which takes place on July 8th.
