About
Javan Johnson is a country music singer-songwriter from British Columbia, whose songwriting is influenced by early 2000’s rock mixed with contemporary country songs dominating streaming.
Javan Johnson (say "raven" with a "J") is a Canadian songwriter, fiddle player and musician from southeastern British Columbia. Born and raised in Nelson, a small river and mountain town in the Kootenay region, Javan got an early start in music, starting classical violin lessons at age 4. Now, Javan is a 5x BC Country Music Association Fiddle/Mandolin Player of the Year nominee, and forms half of the alternative country/Americana duo Son of John with his dad, Johnny P. Johnson. As a freelance fiddle player, Javan has appeared on the MainStage at SunFest Country Music Festival, Funtastic Vernon, and the Calgary Stampede among others, most notably with the Hillside Outlaws and Riley Taylor. At the 2019 Canadian Country Music Awards weekend in Calgary, AB, Javan made his songwriter round debut sharing the stage with the likes of Shantaia and Johnson Crook. His songwriting is influenced by the infectious melodies of the early-2000's rock of his childhood, blended with contemporary country sounds dominating the playlists, and makes trips to Nashville several times a year to hone his craft in preparation to be officially Nashville-based in 2025.
