Actually he still hasn't.
He was born in Eurasia and moved to Canada at the age of 33, which makes him influenced by a broad variety of musical and poetic styles, as well as several languages. It's sounds as if all of them have amalgamated into a kind of music that is unmistakably Greg Goldenberg. That includes mostly influences of British and anglophone North American pop, rock, folk and jazz music, but also that of Russian rock and singer-songwriters, Jewish folk music, French, Dutch, Swedish and Italian pop, and quite a bit of classical and jazz.
