JUNKYARD DAWGS was formed in late 2015 by lead/slide guitarist Tom Napurano (formerly of The Liberty Band and Southern Steel) and lead vocalist Bill Hipple (formerly of Whiskey, The Line-Up, and Southern Steel), along with veteran musicians keyboardist/vocalist Fred Lochner (formerly of Empire), and bassist Paul Mann (Tired Starlings). Drummer Bob Gonnella (formerly of The Drift Band) took over the drum seat in October 2022. All members have at least 30 years or more of performing experience throughout the tri-state area. The band is based in Toms River with members from Ocean and Monmouth counties. JUNKYARD DAWGS has a high-energy performing style highlighted by a deep and diverse song catalog of over 100 covers that includes the music of Bob Seger, Molly Hatchet, 38 Special, Deep Purple, Santana, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Doobie Brothers, ZZ Top, Blackfoot, Eric Clapton, Bad Company, and others, as well as spot-on tributes to The Allman Brothers Band (The Peach Mobile) and Lynyrd Skynyrd (Skynyrd's Ynyrds). Currently in the works for 2024 is Tuckerized (a Marshall Tucker Band Tribute) JUNKYARD DAWGS is festival tested and a proven crowd pleaser. JYD has performed at benefit events for Elks Lodges in Old Bridge, East Brunswick, Freehold, Jamesburg, and Asbury Park-Wall, VFWs in Kearny, Freehold, and Browns Mills, the American Legions in Wayne and Spotswood, the Moving Wall Vietnam Memorial at Garrett Mountain (Paterson), the Blue Knights' Valerie Fund (Deutscher Club in Clark), Rock 2 Adopt/Petstock at Popcorn Park Zoo in Lacey, and the Rockaway Boro Firemens Fair. JUNKYARD DAWGS are regular performers at the Elks Bikers Rally Across America for Brain Injured Children, Elks Cabin Fever Relief Fundraiser, Dillons Creek Marina (Tom's River), Wading Pines Campground (Chatsworth), Adventure Crossing (Jackson), and Laurita Winery (New Egypt), as well as performing for many private party events throughout NJ & Pa. Over the past 40 years, JUNKYARD DAWGS' members have opened for The Outlaws, The Marshall Tucker Band, Dickey Betts and Great Southern, Mountain, Foghat, Molly Hatchet, Artemis Pyle Band, Commander Cody, BlackHawk, Blackfoot, and many other national recording acts.
